Family Support Worker, Wakefield Council
Pay rate to £21.58 per hour
Vitalis are recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to work in a Child in Care Team in Wakefield Council.
This team is a pilot project which is due to go live on the 1st of April 2026. It will be a bespoke and creative service supporting primarily older children of 10 years and above where care would be seen as detrimental to their life outcomes, and where neglectful parenting is a significant factor. This is not a pilot for younger children; they would need to be dealt with separately in terms of care planning.
The cohort of cases would be between 4-6 and could be from both Locality and Child in Care Teams with their suitability decided through a formal panel process.
The Differential Planning programme of support will be delivered through a combination of home visits, telephone intervention and face to face sessions for a minimum 3-month period to a maximum 12-month period. This can include:
• Practical support with home conditions, health appointments, budgeting skills and school attendance.
• Emotional support in promoting the safe well-being of both the child/ren and parents/carers
• Information support with parenting techniques and meeting the daily needs of the child/ren.
• Social support in helping to build and maintain a family and friends’ network.
• Community support with accessing constructive social activities and signposting to universal services that can connect with both the child/ren and the parent/carer.
Don’t forget, if this role isn’t the perfect fit, we’re confident we can find one that is. We recruit across a wide range of public sector specialisms, including:
